If you’ll notice I kind of missed week twelve. To recap that was the week that the group minus one participated in the Wood Memorial Trout Run in Kalkaska. Mel the fitness coach and Wanda ran the 10k and both placed second in their age groups. Amy placed twelfth in hers, Vickie first in hers. I think if I recall Larry placed first is his age group as well. The coolest is that out of the group Wanda is the only one that had ever done any form or race so for everyone this was a first. I think it was awesome.

We had a severe injury this week that has taken out one of our contestants. Helen slipped while doing walking lunges and tore her hamstring two of her hamstring tendons off their attachment to the bone. She has to go in for surgery to attach them. Speaking with her this week has been a blessing to me, she is a wonderfully positive person and she has taught me a thing or two about thinking well through this. I know it will all be well and that she will heal amazingly.

Yesterday we had our final weigh in and potluck dinner. There was some really good food. Kim made a couscous salad that I could have made a glutton of myself and eaten the whole thing. Dale made nori (California) rolls, he said it took a few practice rounds. I was not here the night they made nori rolls but it is my understanding that his that night looked like a salad on his plate not a roll. So everyone was very proud of his abilities last night. They tasted yummy.

Instead of my continuous ramble let’s get to the thing that most everyone wants to know the results of the weigh in and who the biggest loser was this season.

The biggest loser with a total percentage of 16.25% which came to 32.8 pounds was Wanda Haynes. Congratulations Wanda on your successful journey. Second place was Ruth Butcher 8.39% and 14 lbs. Third place to Dale Lund 8.33% 16.2 lbs. The rest of the group came in the following order, Larry Butcher 7.35% total weight loss 17.2, Amy Rivest 7.35% total weight loss 15 lbs. Jane Greenwood 7.11% total 13.2 lbs. Dan Fritzsche 6.40% total weight loss 18.8 lbs. Vickie 5.14% 8.4 lbs Kim Bennett 1.07% 1.7 lbs. Kit did not weigh in for the final. Helen did not weigh in for the final due to an injury that she had on Mondays workout.

Again I congratulate everyone on a hard journey. One of self discovery, to how hard you can push yourself like a 5k run/walk, to making a choice to pass on the bread. May your journey to a healthier you become easier as you continue push yourself to the goal.

Yours in Health, Doc

Oh my gosh, the next time we do this program I am working out with the group twice a week. I was away over the weekend and workout at the hotel, but no where near as hard as Mel works us. I was so sore from the seventy sit-ups that I spasmed in my mid-back the rest of the week. I need to stop being the workout warrior that work out once a week so hard that I can’t do anything the rest of the week. Take it from me if your thinking about doing that it doesn’t work.

Wednesday night the group went to the local co-op Oryana. Our group is so big that they had to split up in two group and then we met after for dinner at Bubba’s. Bubba’s is known for their burgers and their burritos, they also have some lovely salad options as well. So it was a test to see if they could make good choices at a restaurant or if they would fall into old habits and patterns. Oryana was excellent for learning about local products and the stores mission of clean food. It is important to know where you can buy things and help support local economy. I wrote in this upcoming newsletter that the health of our local economy affects our health and the health of the planet. So then on to Bubba’s. I would like to say that it was a disaster, the first thing Larry does is order a Bud Light. First mistake is that if your going to cheat at least have a real beer. Secondly though is that you shouldn’t cheat in front of the teacher or you may get kicked out of class. Then he ordered nachos for dinner. I was truly thinking that the man has not learned a thing. But the truth is when you get to be 75 you do what you want and what you have been doing for years, it is hard for Larry to see that his choices affect his health. Especially now that he is feeling better, it is easy to go back to old habits. The rest of the group did well on their choices, salads all around, except Dan and Amy. Dan chose the shrimp fajita but he did not take the tortilla shell, good choice. The oil was heavy that it was cooked in, he stated that but still felt it was a good choice. Amy had the veggie burger and a small side salad. She choose no bun with the burger, again excellent choice and good show of desire to change. Oh I almost forgot the other table the one with Dale, Ruth, Larry, Vickie, Kit, Kim and Bev, they ate the pretzels with the mustard. The table that I was at chose not to, again an excellent choice and show of perseverance. So over all dinner was a great success, and I really enjoyed the company. I did also show them my weakness of having a package of coconut M & M’s, I had to eat them for the team in order to show them the junk that was in it. We discussed layering and how the food industry actually creates food that is pleasurable and addictive like a drug. That this layering of fat, sugar, and salt actually increases your dopamine levels creating a desire for more. It is a very interesting concept and I can totally see now in my own habits and choices how it has worked in my life.

On Thursday night the group had the challenge.  They had to bring the notorious backpack to put the weight that they had lost back on their backs and run or walk laps around the rink.  You should have seen the looks we got.  They all should be happy though that it was challenge night because Mel was going to kill them with the workout.  All because of Larry’s choice of a beer and nachos the whole group was going to be slaughtered. They are lucky I had control Thursday night.  Anyways Wanda has lost 22 lbs which makes her the biggest loser in weight.  She also won the challenge that night and was the first to complete the race.  It was a good experience and I am sure that everyone was able to see how even a few pounds affects their health and ability to move.  We have two more two more weigh ins, only one before the final.  The countdown is on.  So here are the total for this week;

Top loser this week was Wanda at 7.8 lbs for a total of 3.87%. Way to go Wanda. Second place goes to Jane with 3.8 lbs, for a percentage of 2.05%. Third to Amy 1.96% a total of 4 lbs. Amy would have had second with just .2 of a pound it is amazing how a tiny amount of weight can make such a huge difference. Go for it next week Amy how about first. Next in line was Helen 2.2 lbs, 0.85%, Kit .8 lbs, 0.35%, Dan .2 lbs, 0.7%, Kim 0 lbs, 0%, Dale -0.2 lbs, -0.10%, and Vickie -0.2 lbs, -0.12%.

Till next week may health be your goal.

The week was not very exceptional from my perspective. The group learned how to make Nori rolls this week thanks to my husband Mike and my son Jared. I think they would like to fire me and hire him for the food preparation nights. I would love to have a professional chef come in and show them something really cool. They have a busy week coming up I can tell you that. They have the trip to Oryana and dinner at Bubba’s. There is also one other bit of excitement that I will have to tell you next week. So till then here are the totals for this weeks weigh in and I will tell you there were a few disappointments. Mel even thought that everyone was a little glum after the weigh-in.

Congratulations Dale on a 3 lb loss for a total percentage of 1.54%, Dan you did an excellent job coming in for a close second at 4 lbs for a total percentage of 1.36%. Wanda 1.6 lbs, 0.79%, Jane 1.4 lbs, 0.75%, Kit 1.2 lbs 0.52%, Kim 0.6 lbs, 0.38%, Vickie 0.2 lbs, 0.12%, Helen 0 0%, Amy -0.2 lbs -0.10%, Ruth -1 lb, -0.60%, Larry -2.6 lbs, -1.11%. Congratulations to Helen for traveling with the school to Washington, DC on a bus and holding her weight. That is a huge accomplishment, traveling is hard on a body.

Till next week may your desire be to change.

Wow I think that there are some eyes opening up. This week we are seeing some numbers change. The amazing part is to watch how strong everyone is getting. I remember when no one could do a peel (sit up), or a “V”. Which is sitting with your legs straight out and up so your upper and lower body form a “V”. Wanda is amazing at it now, she can hold an amazing V. Helen has come a long way as well I saw her do 4 standard push-ups tonight, no more modified push-ups for her. Watch out Helen Mel is going to be on you now. We have one member who I will hold back her name, but I wish I could get her to see how beautiful she is. Even in her obesity she is beautiful, and from the back she is trimming down so nicely. The problem is, is that she is still hiding herself under baggy clothes. I did that and realized that I couldn’t even see the progress I was making under my clothes that didn’t fit but hung on me. I finally took in some of my pants and had them taken in. It feels so much better to be in clothes that fit nicely and show off a few of the curves that are coming back. I found a quote a shared with the group this week I will share it here.

Once upon a time there was a hare who, boasting how he could run faster than anyone else, was forever teasing tortoise for its slowness. Then one day, the irate tortoise answered back: “Who do you think you are? There’s no denying you’re swift, but even you can be beaten!” The hare squealed with laughter.

“Beaten in a race? By whom? Not you, surely! I bet there’s nobody in the world that can win against me, I’m so speedy. Now, why don’t you try?”

Annoyed by such bragging, the tortoise accepted the challenge. A course was planned, and the next day at dawn they stood at the starting line. The hare yawned sleepily as the meek tortoise trudged slowly off. When the hare saw how painfully slow his rival was, he decided, half asleep on his feet, to have a quick nap. “Take your time!” he said. “I’ll have forty winks and catch up with you in a minute.”

The hare woke with a start from a fitful sleep and gazed round, looking for the tortoise. But the creature was only a short distance away, having barely covered a third of the course. Breathing a sigh of relief, the hare decided he might as well have breakfast too, and off he went to munch some cabbages he had noticed in a nearby field. But the heavy meal and the hot sun made his eyelids droop. With a careless glance at the tortoise, now halfway along the course, he decided to have another snooze before flashing past the winning post. And smiling at the thought of the look on the tortoise’s face when it saw the hare speed by, he fell fast asleep and was soon snoring happily. The sun started to sink, below the horizon, and the tortoise, who had been plodding towards the winning post since morning, was scarcely a yard from the finish. At that very point, the hare woke with a jolt. He could see the tortoise a speck in the distance and away he dashed. He leapt and bounded at a great rate, his tongue lolling, and gasping for breath. Just a little more and he’d be first at the finish. But the hare’s last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post. Poor hare! Tired and in disgrace, he slumped down beside the tortoise who was silently smiling at him.

“Slowly does it every time!” he said.

The moral of the story “slowly does it every time!”. I need to confess I am discouraged at the rate of change, not only the physical, but the thinking and the eating. Today though I want everyone to know that “slowly does it every time!” The more you work at making a change permanent the greater it will feel when you cross the finish line. I don’t want anyone to be tired and in disgrace because they feel they failed. I am proud of every step a person takes towards greater health expression no matter how large or small. Everyone can win their own individual race if you set your mind and heart to it.

So here are the stats for this week. Larry did a Kick A___! job. 7 lbs for a percentage of 2.99%. He realized after his birthday the week before that he had to choose different he didn’t like the 3 lb gain and he didn’t like how it made him feel physically. Way to go. Wanda who came in second also did a good job and with Easter in there awesome job 5.2 lbs 2.58%. Ruth was next with 2.8 lb loss for 1.68%, Helen 2.8 lbs, 1.08%, Jane 1.8 lbs 0.97%, Kit 2.2 lbs 0.95%, Amy 1.6 lbs 0.78%, Dale 1 lb 0.51%, Dan 1.2 lbs 0.41%, and Kim -0.8 lbs -0.51%.

Remember stay the course the race isn’t over yet.

So the start of week eight. Last week are group got the honor of learning line dancing from Bev from the first B.L.I.S. group. I was not in attendance as I had a seminar to attend, but from what I heard everyone had a great time. There is that part where Mel says that exercise should be fun. So we put a little dance stepping in for some fun. I have not gotten into Dan’s Facebook page, but from what Mel reports good times were had by all. I just need to get a report from Bev and get the whole scoop. I am watching Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on ABC.com because I missed it last Friday night. I am here to tell you that this show only confirms what I have been trying to impress upon this group that the S.A.D. standard American diet is what is killing us and keeping us fat. It is a very enlightening show and I am excited to watch it on Friday of this week.

So I did not work out with the group this Monday night my feet and calves were swollen from traveling to the point where I was barely able to get my shoes on. Travel is not always friendly to me. The results are in from this weeks weigh – in and I want you to know that I feel like Jillian and Bob when the numbers come in less than they hoped for or expected. You shake your head and you go why, why, why. The thing is I don’t get to follow everyone around nor does Mel. We can’t tell them don’t eat that, drink this not that, walk this fast for this long, make sure you do your walking lunges and your dips. Each person is responsible for themselves and the results are totally up to them and their choices. That is a hard lesson to learn, I totally disliked learning it and I still wish it wasn’t true and I could blame someone else. But the pounds I carry are my fault, due to my choices in life. Consuming way too much food and drink (alcohol), to many late night snacks ( the largest Tupperware bowl of popcorn with half a stick of butter by myself), wholes pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream (while watching the biggest loser). Then sitting my lazy butt on the couch at the end of my day and my days off. All because I was so exhausted from carrying around to much weight and my joints hurt. You know life sucks when your fat, overweight, obese, or whatever word you want to use for the lack of health, that obesity brings to you. I like my newer body, I am no where near the health expression I want to be at but I am closer. Traveling this weekend on the plane it was the first time in close to twenty years that I was able to ride with the arm rest down between me and the person sitting next to me. That is freeing totally a joy of tearful exhilaration. Well now that I have ranted and raved and spilled my guts and frustrations here are the results.

First place this week was Dale at 1.23% loss, Followed by Dan at 1.09%, Helen at 1%, Kit at 0.86%, Vickie came in at 0.73%, Kim 0.63%, Wanda 0.30%, Ruth 0.12%, Jane -0.65%, Larry -1.28%, and Amy -1.47%.

Till next week – remember the choice is up to you to change but without change one dies.

Week six is over and seven has started. Six more weigh ins and this spring season of Village Chiropractic Wellness Center and Mel’s Kick-it Biggest Loser Innate Style will be over. Last week Mel had everyone jogging backwards during cardio time, and oh my gosh I think she tried to tear all of our abdominal muscles with the incline bench during our weight training. It has been a while since my abdominal muscles have screamed that much. Dan was saying that the first day after the incline bench he was thinking sweet I made it my abs are strong, second day he was thinking the opposite. Mel always manages a way to Kick it up and change it up and challenge the group in a new way. The very cool part is that everyone meets the challenge with an awesome jovial attitude, even through our groans. I think the amazing part is when you begin to do what ever it is that she asks of you it may feel awkward at first but then the second time you attempt to do it, it is a little easier. I love how your body is able to adapt and do what it needs to do.

I may be stepping out on a limb but speaking with Mel last night after the weigh in I think it would be pretty safe to say that food is still the biggest obstacle for the majority of the group. We have one person who is not able to get in enough protein and food in general. This sets the body up to hoard the fat that it has because it believes that it is going through a famine. A lot of people who go on weight loss programs starve themselves by reducing their calorie intake so low thinking that this will help them lose weight. This creates a stress on your body it interprets it as a threat and holds on to everything so that it has the resources to repair itself if needed. When we don’t supply the right amount of nutrients or the right kinds then we hamper are bodies growth and repair ability. A week back Mel asked everyone if they were happy with the results they were getting and if not “What are you going to do about it?” That is the key; What are YOU going to do about it? Not what is your wife or your brother or your coach but YOU. It is your responsibility to choose your direction or path. I was recently reading from Dr. James Chestnut, D.C. book Innate State of Mind and he broke responsibility down to RESPONSE ABILITY. He basically was saying that the way we respond is up to us and our ability, that you are responsible for your choice no one else. So what are you going to do about where you are if where you are is not where you want to be.

We went to individual percentages this week. No more team losses. Here are the stats for the week.

Our biggest (winner) loser this week is Wanda at 1.39%. Congratulations Wanda. Second place goes to Kit at 1.21%, followed by Amy at 1.08%. Keep up all your good choices ladies. Jane 0.97%, Vickie 0.86%, Ruth 0.72%, Helen 0.62%, Larry 0.34%, Kim 0.13%, Dale 0.0%, Dan -0.34%.

This week everyone get to put a little fun in their step and learn some line dancing from one of our members from the fall. I will miss this fun event as I will be traveling for a seminar. I hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Till next week what are you doing to reach your goals?

Wow this is the start of the middle. After this week we will be on the downward end. Wednesday we discussed the importance of movement. That industrial societies move only a third of what our ancestors did. I showed them scientific evidence that our lack of motion is part of the cause of the major chronic illnesses that our society sees today. I tried my best to explain that movement, spinal hygiene and exercise are essential to good health. Through this whole program the idea is to create an understanding that what we eat, how we move, and how we think lead to health or illness. For most people health is what you have when you have no symptoms, but most of our disease process are occurring way before symptoms are present. A diabetic can have diabetes for years before symptoms present themselves and send us to the doctor. Ashley on the current episode of the biggest loser was told she was a diabetic. Previous to that she was saying how thankful she was that she did not have any diseases other than obesity. She had no symptoms of diabetes so thus she believed that she was healthy, but found out otherwise. That is the case for most of us. We walk around thinking we are healthy because we are not expressing signs of illness. All chronic disease can begin to manifest without symptoms. Let me repeat that ALL CHRONIC DISEASES can manifest WITHOUT SYMPTOMS. The choices that we make everyday need to be based on what is required innately for us to express health. So choose wisely, how you eat, how you move and what you think.

The workout on Thursday was cardio. Mel had everyone running. I heard that Larry made a comment and whistled while his wife of 50 years ran by. I wish that I had been there to see and hear that. I know that Mel received a thank you from one of the members expressing her appreciation for being part of this group and the strength that she has gained. I think that we not only want to have a good quantity of life, but an exceptional quality as well. On our think well class I still remember Larry saying that his goal purpose was to be here for a while longer yet so he could enjoy life with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He had all of us choked up and wishing for the same thing. I have heard it said that life is a present. So if you could choose what your present was each time you opened it, what would it be? Second thought are you doing everything you can right now to make sure that you can enjoy and experience the present right now? Are you doing everything you can to help assure that you are given that present again tomorrow?

Okay now for what everyone is always waiting for the results.

Sweat Equity comes in the lead this week with a whopping 1.04% weight loss. Way to go Dan, Amy and Vickie. The Workout Warrior and The Two Old Farts tied for second place with a 0.66% loss. The Shrinking Violets had 0.57% loss and the Waist Finders had 0.14% loss. One thing to note though one member of the waist finders had a 4″ loss around her waist so her name is fitting her pretty well right now.

So we are finishing week four and beginning week five. Seven weeks left to go and I know that many of the group are disappointed that they are not losing any weight. I am very excited to report though that from Kim (her goal was to gain strength and lose twenty pounds) she is seeing a difference in her strength and is feeling better. She still wishes the scales would change. She said at the food prep Friday night that she has cut out sugar, dairy and bread. There was a huge sigh when she said bread. I agree the hardest comfort food for me to give up is bread. A nice crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar oh my mouth is salivating already. Is it dinner time yet? Being comfortable is what we Americans have become all about. We have food a plenty in fact as I have heard some commentaries say and I believe it was on “Food Inc.”, that we have become a nation of very sick people and not from starvation as other countries but from over consumption. We are eating ourselves right into the grave.

At our food Prep night we had salmon, broccoli salad with a twist (no mayo), beet apple salad, and butternut squash soup. Kim and Vickie made an awesome juice with every fruit in my kitchen and some kale and spinach. The meal was enjoyed by all and thanks to Vital Choice Seafood the salmon was a hit and I am sure that we have made them a few more customers. We talked that night about what everyone felt was holding them back. Most said time and a few said food choices. I explained to most of them that to break through to change we have to look at what is keeping us from getting to where we want to go. We talked about belief systems and that that is what needs to change not so much our behavior. Behavior modification does not work with out belief system changes. I was asked how I do it and I replied Mike does most of the preparing, especially the days I am in the office. But the other prep work, the planning is done by myself or together. I do the juicing and if the breakfast is the oat groats I prepare that the night before. The juice from the frozen fruit puffs up the oats nicely. The juicing I do and we clean up together. The thing I heard the most last night was time that there is no time. Most of us can make plenty of time to do the things we really enjoy and the things we want to do. So I need you to think about what thought pattern is really holding you back from thinking you don’t have time. In order for any of us to have the life we want you must take action to have it, which requires making a plan which requires time, which requires action of the plan which requires time. Time must become your friend. This is not easy and I know that when we look at others or when others such as myself talk about what we do we may make it sound really easy, but I will tell you there are plenty of times around the table when it is time to plan that I go ugh ugh ugh!!! can we just not do it this week. To which Mike always replies YES if you want to eat out or eat fast and eat crap to which then you will feel like crap and you will be grumpy because your constipated blah blah blah. So because my belief system now focuses around how we feel and our attitude, taking time to plan and execute the plan is what we do.

This whole program is about finding health or gaining health. The only way to do that is to change how we think and to change the way we act because of how we think. Vickie stated that it was getting a little easier to plan and that the change was coming even if it is slow. I wish for everyone great health through great choices.

So on to the statistics for the end of week four. The biggest loser innate style winning team this week is The 2 old farts coming in at 1.73% congratulations Dale and Larry. The workout warriors came in second at .95%. The waist finders .62%. The shrinking violets .49%. Sweat Equity .26%

Every member lost at least 1.5″ off their waist with the biggest loss of 4″. I told to remember that fat occupies more space than muscle but muscle weighs more. That they are continuing to lose fat which means less around their waist and gaining strength which means more muscle on the scales. Till next week stay the course.

We are beginning week four. There still has not been any super weight loses other than the first week. Speaking with everyone last night, most agreed that their food choices were still their major issue. I also put my pound of loss from the week before back on. The effort must be one of balance. You must eat well, you must move well (and I don’t just mean in the bathroom).

Last week our events included learning about juicing. We made six different juices. Four with a lot of greens and two with fruits. I think most were surprised at the ease of making juice and how good they tasted. My favorite was heart healthy greens which had kale, apple, carrot, and lime in it. Oryana makes a green apple lemonade that I love as well. It is kale, apple, lemon, celery, and a thumb size piece of ginger, yum. The biggest complaint to juicing is the clean up. I think that is why I like my champion juicer the best. At this juicing class and the one from the first round we had several different juicers, a Jack Lalane juicer, Hamilton beach, breville. And I still think the champion is the easiest to clean. Adding fresh juice to your daily food regiment is important to your health. It adds a lot of nutrients in concentrated form, but should be considered a supplement and not a food. The other thing about fresh juice is just that it is fresh. It has not been pasteurized which kills all the essential enzymes and nutrients. It hasn’t had preservatives added so it has a long shelf life. Its whole and fresh. Again our theme here is back to nature or natural. Man has messed with his food to long just so that it can be shipped thousands of miles and kept on a shelf. Michael Pollan says in his book Food Rules “If it comes from a plant eat it, if it’s made in a plant don’t”. Most of what we call food should not be eaten today.

We also made the news last week. The local paper the leader and Kalkaskian is following the 12 weeks and reporting on it. Very exciting. This week we will be joining together for a meal again. Our meat this week is salmon from Vital Choice seafood in Alaska, plus three delicious salads.

Last night at the weigh in Amy and I were talking about food choices. She commented that her sister had been there the weekend before, and her plans to go shopping and plan her meals got waylaid. She discovered a plan is vital for one to gain their health back, through proper food intake, exercise, etc… A plan is always an important aspect of achieving anything you want in life.

Now for what everyone is always waiting for the results of this weeks weigh in. The team that lost the most this week was The Waist Finders coming in with a total loss of 6.4 lbs for a percentage of 1.55. The rest of the stats are as follows; The Shrinking Violets 0.90%, The 2 Old Farts 0.62%, Sweat Equity 0.23%, and The Workout Warriors 0.18%.

This week is the week of discovery. You begin to actually see what your life is like, how the choices you make affect your health and start to do the work inside that is necessary for change. You begin to change your belief systems and not just your behavior. Here is to successful lasting life altering change. Till next week; let the self discovery heal you.

Week three is complete. This week included more intense workouts. Mel took them to the stairs this time, and they all did awesome. They had B join them Thursday night from the last biggest loser innate style competition. Mel said that B and Ruth are friends and that she thinks having B there pushed Ruth to run those stairs even harder. You can not get rid of those extra stubborn pounds without sweating (I had a hard time with that part – the sweat). Larry even did a terrific job. I am very proud of our older members, their desire and perseverance is awe-inspiring.

We had our first food prep night. The main reason I call it a food prep night is that 3/4 of the meal is not cooked so it makes it difficult to call it a cooking class. I set the groups up in five work stations. One station made almond milk, which was yummy (I used the left overs to make smoothies with). Another group made carrot ginger soup, which was really gingery this time but still fantastic, a nice refreshing start to the meal. Ginger is a very nice digestive aid. The soup is served cold, which I think was a first for everyone. We had turkey herb burgers. The turkey came from Duerksens Turkey farm. They are growers of pasture raised turkey’s with no hormones or antibiotics. We usually make it with beef burger, the turkey was a nice change. Then one group made an orange spinach salad, and the other group made Thai cucumber salad. They learned about different dressings that can be made and ways to change-up your typical salad. Vickie made a comment that the dressing was not your “typical ranch”. I believe that was her way of saying different was refreshing. Over all it was a wonderful time of sharing and doing what humans love to do eat and talk. The nice part was the food did not contain processed sugars and refined grains. It was whole foods, as fresh as we could get them served in their most purest form. I enjoyed myself.

In week four they will learn about juicing. I am thankful that I put Vickie making carrot juice last week and prep night, because she will not be at the juicing class. This way she got a little experience with a juicer. And they still have their two nights of work outs with Mel. I know Mel was planning to kick it up again for the strength training. We will see how everyone feels later in the week.

So the stats for the second weigh in are:

The greatest losers (winners) this week are The 2 Old Farts, 1.85% Dale was our top loser at 1.13% Way to go Dale!!! The Shrinking Violets - 1.05%, The Workout Warriors - 0.80%, Sweat Equity – 0.73%, The Waist Finders - 0.20%.

Till next week – keep your eye on the goal “health”
